This pictorial instruction covers the joining of Yuku service, which is required as a first action, before any other. You only need join Yuku once, to be able to access various forums. Some forums, but not all, require a member application as well.
After joining Yuku, if you then want to join the indicated forum.... aolcomuk

Note as well.
Yuku User Names have nothing to do with
AOL Screen Names or a screenname@aol.com
screenname@aim.com or any other AOL connection.
The help here is general.
Once you have joined Yuku, it is up to the reader of this help, if they wish to join a different forum or the suggested forum aolcomuk... which has an 'All are Welcome no one will be refused' policy.

FIRST ACTION:
You have to join the Yuku service before you can do anything else.
Go to this location http://yuku.com and click the..... SIGN UP BUTTON

The next page seen should be this.....
Shown after scrolling down to the enter items area.
You do not need to enter real information,
but do enter things you can remember.
Or make a note in a safe location, not on your computer.
If you lose access to Yuku, some or all of the input information is required to connect you again.
Your E-mail address MUST be a real one.

Complete the form as you wish and then type in the verification item. Enter 'As Seen' the UPPER and lower case letters or numbers, into the oblong box just below the picture.
When ready. Click the button...... I AGREE! NOW SIGN ME UP!
FIRST SPECIAL NOTE:
(one of two to read, next can be seen in item 4.)
A possible problem maybe encountered at this point.
It has been reported that the first sign-up page may show again,
after clicking the....... I AGREE! NOW SIGN ME UP!
The page looks nearly the same as before,
but without any password or e-mail entered.
A message will have appeared saying that the e-mail entered previously is already registered with Yuku, or words like that. The area of the e-mail input maybe coloured.

The USUALLY WRONG and most common thought at this point, is that someone has hijacked a persons e-mail address, often AOL or AIM ones, but could be any services mail or domain e-mail address.
####
The thought is wrong based on a simple fact. If someone had taken and used the e-mail address, the person filling in the sign-up now and real owner of the address, would have previously received a verification mail from Yuku and other mail saying there were messages in their Yuku mail in-box waiting to be read.
So how to explain this strange happening.
Remember there are thousands of users on the internet and even the strangest of names for an e-mail address may have been thought of by two or more people. Also there are many NEAR ways to spell something and people type errors all the time.
A.
The most likely explanation, is that someone entered an e-mail address and moved onto the next section, by clicking the...... I AGREE! NOW SIGN ME UP! ..... Once they did that the mail address would be registered with Yuku. The person may then realise they actually made a mistake and did not put their correct e-mail, say they put...... Nice2Bher@any.com and their actual e-mail address is..... Nice2Bhere@any.com
Usually in a panic as there is no 'Back' button seen, a user will just close the window view to escape. If that is done, then the Yuku service will have logged the mail address given and as far as Yuku is concerned the e-mail address has now been registered and if used again will say it has been registered before. So for the purpose of this explanation, if you were the real owner of the other name Nice2Bher@any.com and tried to join Yuku, you will be unlucky enough to find you seem to be registered already and get the rejection message.
It is not known if there is an expire time period for an unused e-mail name, that is that no verification mail is sent out to that address, after which the name could be used once again and be registered.
B.
There could be a glitch in the software at Yuku and some e-mail addresses show up as already registered, even if they are not. There is not much that can be done to convince the Yuku service's software otherwise.
C.
Although unlikely. You may well have nearly or actually joined a Yuku service via some other method. That would also record an e-mail address and show it as already registered.
D.
It is always possible the e-mail address was hijacked, but very unlikely based on the above and the fact verification mail would have been received from Yuku in the past.
The general explanations above are only theory based on information received. At the moment, Yuku themselves do not seem to have any information available, on their help site, to explain the happening.
Regardless as to the exact reasons. If you are unable to use an existing e-mail address, then you will have to use another, to be able to complete the sign-up. Do keep a note of wording, names and e-mail addresses you enter in any boxes, they maybe required later for one reason or another.

After clicking the...... I AGREE! NOW SIGN ME UP!
Another page will open showing an area to enter a User Name.
The USER NAME may be whatever you wish.
You should click the 'available?' button to confirm you can use it.
It is this name which will appear in the Yuku service.
SECOND SPECIAL NOTE :
An important point here and where some confusion happens.
The User Name you enter is also used to create your Yuku e-mail address.
Example : SpidersWebHelp.u@yuku.com
Many have been taken aback when entering an AOL or AIM screen name, as they wish to keep using it. Only to be told, by clicking the 'available?' or 'FINISH' button, that the User Name is already in use.
The reason is simple. Yuku has no connection to AOL or AIM, so has no idea of existing screen names which you may have in place, like Nice2Bhere
The message is not saying someone has a same AOL or AIM screen name as you on AOL or AIM. It is saying the User Name you asked for, is already in use within the Yuku service and therefore you cannot also have it as yours. (believe it or not, names shown as in use have been so strange, that the person entering it is convinced no one else could have ever thought of it, how wrong can you be sometimes)
When you get to the point of clicking the 'FINISH' button. Yuku will create a User Name to be used within Yuku and a Yuku e-mail address. It will also have noted the sign-up e-mail address you gave on the first page and a verification e-mail will be sent there automatically. A welcome to Yuku, also goes to your Yuku e-mail in-box.
Last point. DO NOT enter e-mail addresses here, just names and numbers.
Example : Nice2Bhere (most people do not use spaces in the names)
At a later point, if you join one or more member forums. It is possible that the User Name will appear on those forums as the name plus an additional previously joined board name.
In a test join, the name Spider was used. After joining one forum and then joining another, the previous forum name became added.
Mine, in a test, showed as Spider and then Spider.aolmessageboards
The full explanation for this is not clear, but does happen, so just make note of it.

Usually when just visiting forums to look, only the original created User Name shows.
In practice, you only use your Yuku created User Name and Password at any sign-in.

After this, you need to wait for an e-mail to confirm you are accepted into the Yuku service.
The wait may be short or long. You can close any open pages, if you want.
The received mail, will look something like this.
There is a link to click and an additional instruction, if the auto link did not function.

On clicking the 'Validation' link, a page should open, looking something like this.
You may well need to log-in to see some mail from Yuku.

After the log-in, a message page should open, the in-box usually.
It will contain a hello from the Yuku Team.
Normally only one e-mail from Yuku, would be shown at this first opening of the messages section.

The Yuku part is now finished and it is possible to move to other items within Yuku and do whatever you wish. Make a profile and other such things.
Along the top bar of Yuku Service and most forums, there are icons for the mail box message area and others. A zero [0] shows on e-mail for instance indicating no mail, a number will show when there is mail and how much. Click the icons to open them. The mail has an envelope icon.
There is a 'NAVIGATION' button to top right of screen view. When Yuku service opens. It is possible to click the button and access an area where you can get to other locations and forums you may have joined.

A drop-down area will open.
This area may already be in the drop-down open position, when you first log-in.
You can do what you wish.
Next screen shots show selecting a community you may have joined later.
Shots are just a guide and not something you may see right away, until you join a community.

There are tabs to open various sections.
Click the communities tab.
Select the 'My Communities'. If you are in any, they will load under the 'Community Name'.
Example : aolcommunity.

Choose whatever you want, example the aolcommunity.
It will open into the community selected.
Note that some communities require you to apply for membership, others are open access.
Some forums have open access and special restricted member access areas.
